W & C Scott Cape Gun

Made circa 1880's this rare double barrel cape gun is chambered in 16G shot and .440 rifle. The 32" damascus barrels are marked Barrels marked W & C SCOTT & SON, MAKERS and 10 GT CASTLE ST, REGENT CIRCUS, LONDON. The barrels show London black powder proofmarks with the shot barrel showing 16B and 18M. Also stamped NOT FOR BALL and CHOKE. The rifle barrel stamped .440. I suspect the rifle barrel is chambered in one of the many variations of the British .500/.450 cartridge but which one is anyone's guess. I've never done a chamber cast. All up a very nice example of a British breechloading cape gun. Serial No. 36130
