Webley No.2 Pocket Revolver, .380CF

A handy pocket Webley revolver from the 1880's.

This Webley No.2 pocket revolver in .380CF has a five shot fluted cylinder and a short 2¼" (55mm) ovate barrel. The long birds head style walnut grips are nicely checkered. The revolver is nickel finished although it has suffered from some corrosion as pitting is evident.

During the 1870's and 1880’s Webley produced several styles of small framed, pocket revolvers including their famous British Bull Dog revolvers. They were all called the No.2 which contrasted to the larger framed No.1 Royal Irish Constabulary or R.I.C. revolvers. Small calibre No.2 revolvers were commonly chambered in .380CF or .320CF but also in the rare .297CF and .230CF

The left frame shows WEBLEY No2 .380CF over Webley's flying bullet trademark and the serial number 70780. The top strap is marked P. WEBLEY & SON    LONDON & BIRMINGHAM.

Below shows this revolver (serial 70780) above a similar but slightly earlier Webley No.2 revolver in the same .380CF (serial 63369).  Note the smooth unfluted cylinder on the older example.
